I have two external monitors and wanted to drive from my works Windows 10 laptop and personal MacBook – and works perfectly. Does need DisplayLink software installed on both though.
Aussitôt testé, aussitôt renvoyé. Sur un MacBook Pro 15 pouces 2019, branché à un seul écran asus 144Hz se résolution 2560×1440, « ça fonctionne ». Notez les guillemets: câest pas efficace, il y a des lenteurs dâaffichage, des retards perceptibles lorsque lâon bouge une fenêtre, le curseur, ou quâon tape un texte. Je nâimagine même pas une vidéo.Les polices sont baveuses, on a un sentiment général de flou. Je nâaime pas du tout.Certes le pari de brancher plusieurs écrans avec un câble est tenu, mais à quel prix?Ãa reste du display link, câest pas natif. Pour aller sur le net ca va, pour travailler câest niet pour moi.
I initially bought a startech 60Watt dock same as my wife’s. I’ve used these for 7 years for my job in hardware/software testing. They are great and solid.So the 60W wouldn’t charge (my fault for not checking my laptop) so tried to buy a 100watt then cancelled as the order was months away. Bought a cheap “ooh I can do 100Watt marketed device…. utter garbage” So i thought fine i’ll just use my laptop charger with this cheapo dock. Nooo that doesn’t work as I have the usb-c connected so it’s thinking that is charging it, which is logical!RIGHT lets try Startech again : Great found one suitable and next day delivery and plugged all in and working fine instantly.Buy the best yes it’s pricey but a £90 dock then needed a 100watt usb charger adding which are a minimum of £45 from a make I’ve never heard of and reviews suggesting it’s not electrically safe!So buy this and be done with it. Like I say I’ve used startech at work in labs with them on 24/7 365 and not one device failed in 7 years.PS I have a lenovo X1. Hopefully this helps people as for 100W usb -c docks most of the products are completely branded in a way to capture you and do not work as a user needs.EDIT EDIT : 2 weeks later : Screens constantly flickering on off. None of these docking stations are perfect but having used startech before for years and the huge cost. I would have expected more. I’m now having the screens flickering on and off for the past 3 days every 15 mins. All will recover but this is highly frustrating and i have just had 1 bluescreen after connecting a usb headset.Very very unhappy i need all this kit to do my job. All my pc is upto date and the £30 dock that didn’t charge was more stable than this £200+Sort it out startech
3 months in and So far so good.Been tested to itâs limits. 12 hrs min per day 5 days per week. Most times I forget to switch it off.Itâs Permanently Connected to :Dual 27inch 1080p monitors4K cameraiPad always connected to fast charge portiPhone always connected the other fast charge portBluetooth mouse and keyboard dongleExternal hard driveHad laptop freeze twice but donât know if itâs related to the dock. Laptop is 5 years old.Canât grumble at the moment. Will update the review in 9 months.
