Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of places…
This is not one of those times.
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbors for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband… someday.
Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you think you should…
Or not.
There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest and heir to the earldom, but he’s arrogant, annoying, and she’s absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can’t stand the sight of him, either.
But sometimes fate has a wicked sense of humor…
Because when Billie and George are quite literally thrown together, a whole new sort of sparks begins to fly. And when these lifelong adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they can’t abide is the one person they can’t live without…

Another amazing book
I’m a huge fan of Julia Quinn, so no wonder I’ve loved this book too. But really, this one was different from the others I’ve read till now and yet it was still Julia Quinn at her very best. Her wit is always amazing, her ability to portrait characters lovable AND, what about Aubrey Hall and a Pall Mall match again in a book? Also, the couple is so perfectly matched, I’ve adored them together – but even by themselves, especially Billie who’s unforgettable. I’ve laughed a lot while reading and I can’t wait to read of Andrew and Georgiana because I’m sure I’ll laugh a lot with their books as well.
Julia Quinn is Back!!!
Oh the joy to have Julia Quinn back to her old splendour.I have to admit I was getting quite frustrated with her books. Some of her latest stories have been sparkless and a touch creepy at time. (See the Smithe-Smith quartet series) I don’t know if just thinking about the Bridgerton name is inspiring to her but there’s something about this family that really brings out her best.”Because of Miss Bridgerton” is almost as good as the rest of the series. It’s cute, and funny. Not really original but sweet all the same. Billie is a strong, interesting character, so is George. And if they don’t stand out from the rest of the croud, it’s because the rest of the characters is just as good. For all of those wondering, this is not a sequel to the Bridgerton saga. It’s not a strickly prequel either. Yes, Billie is a Bridgerton, but it’s not the Bridgerton family that the story will follow. It’s the Rokesby’s. A good story all the same. Not quite “Romancing Mr.Bridgerton” but it is certainly not “The sum of all creepyness” either.
Julia Quinn
Tutta la serie Bridgerton è carina, leggera ma piacevole
Buono

Nice, but not as impressive as other Quinn’s books
What to say of this long awaited book that was preceded by a call to reread the whole Bridgerton saga before this prequel? All Julia Quinn’s trademarks are there, so if you like witty banter and family spirit you’ll find them… With a vengeance. I would have done with a little less banter and some more insight in the characters and in the developing of a romance that is as delicate as it is almost elusive, Quinn has undoubtedly produced more emotional stories, but it is nonetheless the first book in a potentially enjoyable series and a pleasant reading, even though probably not one of the most memorable ones.
sempre piacevole!
Buona lettura!!
love the chemistry between billie and george! amazingly written, went through it in two days. great read for fans of julia quinn
This was such an amazing read, after reading the first 8 books from the Bridgerton Series I held such high hopes for this prequel and it did not disappoint. It was filled with love, passion, sauce and lots of tension. The disdain they feel for one another was so perfectly written you would genuinely think, god how could they fall in love. Their story is beautiful and I genuinely couldnât put it down, hence reading it within a day! The book really builds up, glances here, comments there, and when they finally come together my heart raged for them. One thing I praise Julia Quinn for is her ability to build suspense, I was so eager to see how their story plays put and she managed this by ending chapters on such cliffhangers pushing you on for more.
Love Julia Quinn’s writing as always! Looking forward to the coming books. Always good to read her books along with a hot meal or drink!
This is lovely, and well worth reading, but with slightly less momentum than other Bridgerton books. Itâs about tomboy Billie Bridgerton and her childhood frenemy George Rokesby. When an accident forces them together, the friction between them perplexes them both.âBecauseâ is a series of vignettes about the neighbouring families, their shared childhoods and their strong bonds. While I am a big fan of Julia Quinn, at times it felt like she was not as enthusiastic when writing this book. For example the vicious croquet game is fun but itâs been done better in her other books. But there is lots to like. I like that Billie relishes her duties as a land manager. Yet her gender means that when her brother grows up she will lose this role. Neighbour George has his own issues as his brothers go off to war, but he must stay at home feeling unheroic. Overall itâs a likeable book, beautifully written with many witty moments.
