Things are not looking good for the ranch. So when Loper heads into town to negotiate with the banker, Slim hits the road in search of a new home.
Meanwhile, Hank and his faithful sidekick Drover hitch a ride in the back of Slim’s pickup. Before long, they come to a stop in an unfamiliar town. And when Slim lands himself a new job, Hank finds that he’s no longer the Head of Ranch Security, but the Head of Chicken House Security. Hank knows that this new life is for the birds…but will he ever see the ranch again?
Hank and Drover sing “We’re Freezing Our Tails”, and Slim sings his “Song of the Road”.

I love Hank the cow dog! And this is one of my favorite of the books. As someone who lives in a small town America it just feels so right. OK that might not make a lot of sense, but itâs very good
I read to my 9 year old grandson every night and Hank is the only books he wants to hear for the past year. He loves them and I find myself laughing as well. My grandson often talks about Hank during the day like he is a friend because these books are so well written he remembers them long after we have finished them. We have read around 40 of them so far and canât find many at the library or second hand stores so buy them on Amazon. Typical Hank story, lots of mischief and laughs. Lots of little lessons throughout the book but also some questionable ideas and name calling. Good topics to talk about after we read about them. I highly recommend Hank books we have been reading them for 3 years now. We often reread his favorite Hank books multiple times.
The author is such a good Christian family man. His writing reflects this. I have read almost all his books. He knows exactly how a dog would talk and think.
I love this book it’s vary funny and I could not stop reading I would get this book if you like funny stuff
Love Hank the Cowdog so much! Keep them coming!
