Started last night – finished just now – what an exhilarating read!! Melanie Cantor youâve done it again!!! Youâre really great at this!!
This was suggested to me as Iâm going through a separation from my husband. We never had kids, I never wanted them, so I donât often get the desperate need for babies that a lot of women feel. This though was a different take on that situation and I really enjoyed it. Itâs funny and warm and realistic, not predictable. A great read.
If you are looking for entertainment (both funny and poignant), a book with pace, humour and highly relatable characters, look no further! Melanie tells her protagonist Daisy’s story with such wit you could be fooled into thinking the light-hearted plot is what makes this a cracking holiday read. But this book has layers. Whether it’s her vivid descriptions of Daisy’s work as an interior designer, or her gentle observations of the genuine friendships between her characters, or indeed her ability to tackle some of midlife’s biggest dilemmas there is so much more to take away from this read. When I can read a novel and forget that it’s a work of fiction, that is masterful storytelling. I would love to see this on the big screen too!
I usually read psychological thrillers but for some reason this book called out to me and I’m so glad it did. When Daisy catches her boyfriend getting jiggy with another woman at her 40th birthday party her life changes forever. Not only does she loose her boyfriend, she looses her home and business partner too.Not one to give up Daisy decides to go it alone. With a supportive network of family and friends Daisy is blessed but there’s something missing from her life. I’ll not say any more as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who chooses to read this book to see what happen’s to Daisy over the following 12 months and if she will find the happy ever after after she rightly deserves.
I thought this book would be about a forty-something woman writing a list of things she wanted to do after her break-up. I was looking forward to going on different adventures with her as she travelled and had new experiences. Instead I was taken on her journey of trying to get pregnant which was not what I anticipated. Overall, did not enjoy the story. However, I did like the characters.
